Maher pretty much owned Huckabee. Good job.
By: voskresene. on 09 Jan 09, 14:43:30
I would also add that Western Europe's abandonment of religion at the end of the day is only going to lead to it becoming Muslim. Europeans are so into themselves now, that they don't have children while Muslim immigrants have large families. I think the Bill Mahers of the world won't be pointing to Europe as a great bastion of enlightenment in 40 to 50 years.
By: voskresene. on 09 Jan 09, 14:35:20
Why is this guy (Bill Maher)taken seriously? His arguments are so weak. I am not a huge fan of Huckabee, but I think he did a good job here. I think the likes of Maher need to answer for the actions of Atheists (or anti-religionists) before resorting to sighting atrocities carried out in the name of religion. Also, he needs to give some sort of basis for ethics that is universally binding before making any kind of ethical assertions. Otherwise it is all just a matter of opinion.

you know why he hasnt discovered god? b/c there is no evidence to support his existance either way. a belief in god is based soley on faith and NOT evidence.

Celticking36: In what way does Matt.5:22 damn itself? "Raca" means empty-headed and is a dehumanising just like that other racist word. In this context the word "fool" may also be understood as "rebel" which personifies the atheist. This was just an example where Jesus identified wrong attitudes as triggering other sins.

Awe Granny. I did a quick look at other videos you commented on & Wow. I agree with 100 percent of your opinions on other things except for this pesky little god issue. My wife & I will be down in Aruba in May for a week. We should float/hop over to T&T and meet you for a drink. You can enjoy one of those rare glasses of wine. My wife is holding tenuously on to her faith, so she'd have something to add.

Granny: Such actions lead to situations such as that the middle east today - brothers fighting against brothers. Baloney. What's happening in the middle is a simple My imaginary friend is better (I'm right, about the sh*t that I made up), than your imaginary friend (and you're wrong about the sh*t that you made up). What, using Abraham? Remember with the New Convenant, I thought that disqualified the old testament, or was that only the stuff you choose to ignore in the old testament.
By: nomorephil. on 08 Jan 09, 13:45:32
Granny: human failings Well of course there are human failings, humans are just imperfect animals that make mistakes, do stupid things, draw false conclusions, without any need for help or guidance from your imaginary friend. Went I am doing the right thing I know it. god isn't telling me so. When I do the wrong thing I know that too. If I didn't know good from bad, i.e a sociopath, I would need mental help not god. Have you seen the Why Won't God Heal Amputees video here on YouTube?

nomorephil: RE:....stuff happens for no reason/purpose." Somehow, I don't buy that. If we look long enough, there is a cause for every effect. Usually, it can be attributed to human failings. God is a God of perfection.

nomorephil: When the rain falls, I feel safe and secure receiving shelter from another person's umbrella. Atheists and other non-believer's are, at ther moment, being sheltered under the believer's umbrella of God's grace and mercy. They know in their hearts about God;s existence yet refuse to acknowledge Him.

morephil: RE: ......shooting themselves and getting to heaven via "Express Way. There are a few instances in the Bible wherein folks took it upon themselves to "help" speed up God's processes. The story of Abraham, Sarah and Hagar is a good example. Such actions lead to situations such as that the middle east today - brothers fighting against brothers. I'm in no hurry. He said to occupy 'til he comes and I'm doing that. In God's good time, bye and bye we'll get there.
By: grannyvonng. on 08 Jan 09, 03:23:42
nomorephil: You crack me up! This is good. Life is a gift from God. Christ Our Saviour said "I go to prepare a place for you; so that where I am you may be there also. In the meantime, occupy until I return. He promised us happiness in this life and the next. Trust me, I'm having my piece of the pie in this life (I'm not greedy) and look forward to a banquet in the life to come.
By: grannyvonng. on 08 Jan 09, 03:12:56
nomorephil: That's not wishful thinking; it's called faith. Hope and faith go togetehr like a horse and carriage. I'm not advocating that you shouldn't have faith in your fellow man; but ultimately our faith must be founded in Christ from whom all blessings flow. He is dependable; flesh will fail.

Granny:what's the big deal about being hit by a bus? It way more important to me not to get hit by a bus because this is the only life we get, and I need to live the only life I get to its fullest. You on the hand have so much more & better to look forward to in the afterlife than I do. If the devout truely believed, why wouldn't they have a party with all their familiy & friends & then shoot themselves in the head. Go on up to heaven post haste. THAT's belief. Wait Muslims kind of do that....
By: nomorephil. on 08 Jan 09, 02:54:30
Granny: How could anyone feel safe in a random environment? I feel as safe as anyone should expect to feel, in a world that has no god, big brother, father figure looking over me. Its not perfectly safe but it is indeed a position without delusion. Again its your wishful thinking. The world that you imagine is certainly a wonderful one, way better and preferrable to the one we have. Why wouldn't I want it to be true, I wish it were true. But our wishing doesn't make anything true. Sorry.
By: nomorephil. on 08 Jan 09, 02:44:59
Granny: atheist "hopes" Please do not confuse "hope" with what it is that you are doing. I hope. Definition: to cherish a desire with anticipation, or to desire with expectation of obtainment What you do is ? hope against hope Definition: to hope without any basis for expecting fulfillment. That is, there is, and you have, zero basis to expect any of this to be true because there is nothing at all to support it. That's not hope that's wishful thinking, Look it up.
By: grannyvonng. on 08 Jan 09, 02:42:20
nomorephil: If, at the end of the day, your only expectation is a dirt grave what's the big deal about being hit by a bus? Might as well get it over with. Eat, sleep, drink, be merry (party hearty!), for tomorrow we die.
By: nomorephil. on 08 Jan 09, 02:31:41
Granny: ...you've not yet discovered the reality and splendid gloriousness of God's existence. I have indeed found the world to be a magnificent, delightful , and wonderous place. No god required.
By: grannyvonng. on 08 Jan 09, 02:22:40
nomorephil: The "randomeness" of the universe has left us in a safe/warm place". How could anyone feel safe in a random environment. This type of reasoning strengthens my belief in creation. The bible says "let all things be done in order and good taste". The creator of the universe is a God of order and, according to observations, in no way can the universe be seen as random. The Creator is a God of order.RANDOM!!! Atheists just delight in opposing God.
