while agree that jimi is in the league of his own, i have to say that yes john isn't jimi hendrix he sounds a hell of lot like him, just the build ups, and all the little nuances that johns been studying since he started playing guitar, hendrix was the master and all the greats his children

just because its the majority of the public opinion doesnt mean that its right they are impossible to judge by us because one we are just now seeing john show off his soloing skill as he has taken the more is less approach to playing where SRV was always over the top. In my opinion yes SRV was a better player but just because i think that doesnt mean its true

I like both of them ALOT (: I do like John quite a bit more because of his style and sound, but I can definately say SRV was a much better player than John. They're both great, but I think most people, no matter who they liked more, would agree SRV was a better, more skillful player.

Stevie Ray had enough power to sink an aircraft carrier, it just wasn't the same kind of power Jimi had, because he wasn't Jimi Hendrix. Same with John. Neither John nor Stevie sound like Jimi when they do their own stuff because they are true to their own expression, like Jimi was.
