Congratulations to Denzel on this award. In my opinion, he should have also won hands down for his brilliant portrayal of Malcom X. His performance and commitment to the character actually made me forget I was watching a movie and think that I was looking at Malcom X himself! Denzel Washington is without a doubt one of the finest actors of this generation if not one of the finest of all times. And yes, every now and then I'll still pop in the DVD, "Mo Betta Blues" one of my all time favorites!!!

Maybe James Stewart was to a certain extent racist or hardcore republican (though the evidence seems pretty mediocre at best about any racism), but that does not make this movie racist or fascist! I'm a person of color and I disagree. The movie talks about the emancipation of African Americans from slavery (Smith's first visit to the Lincoln Memorial) and one of the kids on Smith's hometown newspaper staff was African American. People see the prejudices they want to see. I see a movie that included African Americans in it and did not ignore them. The valets who were carrying the bags got the last laugh by ditching his bags.
